About Community Land Trust and CHF BC
The Community Land Trust (CLT) is a social purpose real estate developer with a focus on acquiring, creating and preserving affordable housing for present and future generations. CLT currently stewards assets of more than 800 homes, with another 2,000 homes actively under development with various community partners and scheduled for occupancy between 2020 and 2023. CLT’s portfolio will span a diversity of tenures, including co-operative, non-profit an affordable or shared equity ownership.
CHF BC represents more than 250 non-profit housing co-ops with almost 15,000 co-op homes. Services to this portfolio include a full spectrum of programs for its members, including education in co-op governance and management, advice and trouble-shooting, communications and advocacy, and commercial services (including group deposit pools and group buying programs that allow member co‑ops to save money on their day-to-day operations). CHF BC is also the umbrella organization for a group of social enterprises serving its mission, which is to unite, represent and serve its members in a thriving co-operative housing movement.
COHO Management Services companies provides a full range of professional property management services to 90 clients with more than 5,800 co-op and non-profit homes. COHO’s clients include co-ops developed under every federal and provincial co-op housing program since 1973—a diverse mix of incomes, backgrounds and household types.
